Will RICO Visit Wall Street?

The continuing and rapidly expanding investigation of who did what and when during the LIBOR fixing scheme makes for interesting speculation to see if the government will apply the RICO statute as part of its on-going investigation. If one reads the RICO statute and its intent, it surely seems that a more than colorable argument can be made that the Big Banks may have violated the RICO statute. While it should not make a difference which person is President of the United States while the Justice Department ponders the question of RICO violations by Wall Street, it is a pretty safe bet that one of the current candidates will certainly not encourage or endorse the Justice Department to look at this issue.
